Aosen Steel partners with China Huadian Corporation to launch a 50MW wind-to-hydrogen project, helping Xinjie build a zero-carbon demonstration park.

On September 17, the "50MW Off-Grid Wind-to-Hydrogen Integrated Demonstration Project," jointly developed by Aosen Special Steel and the Hebei Branch of China Huadian Corporation, was officially launched in Nanzhiqiu Town, Xinji City. The launch of this landmark project marks a significant step forward for Aosen Special Steel in its green energy transition and the implementation of its zero-carbon strategy, while also injecting fresh momentum into Xinji City’s hydrogen energy industry and its drive toward high-quality development.

Zong Zhenhua, Mayor of Xinji Municipal Government, Ding Chao, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Zone Management Committee, Qin Yun, Director of the Municipal Development and Reform Bureau, and other leaders from the municipal government and relevant departments attended the event. Representatives from partner companies—including China Huadian Group Hebei Branch, China Gezhouba Group Beijing Survey & Design Institute, China Construction First Bureau, Goldwind Technology, and Beijing Tianshan High-Tech—also joined in to witness the occasion.

Xinji Municipal Government Mayor Zong Zhenhua delivered the opening speech, warmly praising Aosen Special Steel for its exemplary role in driving the region’s green and low-carbon development. He emphasized that the municipal Party Committee and government will continue to firmly support project construction and enterprise growth, consistently improving the business environment while strengthening policy and service guarantees—working together to propel Xinji’s hydrogen energy industry toward high-quality, sustainable development.

Bo Chunguang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of China Huadian Group's Hebei Branch, stated in his speech that Huadian Group will fully leverage its technological and experiential strengths in the renewable energy sector to ensure the project is completed and put into operation with high quality, thereby supporting Xinji in building a green, low-carbon energy system.

In his speech, Cao Yanan, Executive Director of Aosen Steel, emphasized that this project is a key initiative for Aosen Steel to implement its "Dual Carbon" strategy and drive the green transformation of the industry. The project leverages wind-to-hydrogen technology directly connected to renewable energy sources, enabling efficient synergy between green electricity and green hydrogen, thereby significantly optimizing the energy mix and providing robust support for building a zero-carbon industrial park. He also noted that Aosen Steel is actively pursuing the application process for a national-level zero-carbon demonstration park, expressing optimism about collaborating with partners like Huadian to jointly establish a leading benchmark for hydrogen energy applications in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

The newly launched 50MW wind-to-hydrogen integrated off-grid demonstration project boasts a total investment of 405 million yuan, seamlessly integrating wind power generation, hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen refueling into a single facility. This project brings together the cutting-edge expertise and extensive experience of participating partners, including China Gezhouba Group Beijing Institute, China Construction First Bureau, Goldwind Science & Technology, and TianShan High-Tech. It stands as a prime example of collaborative efforts and mutual success among diverse stakeholders. Once completed, the project will annually supply approximately 80.84 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity and around 650 tons of green hydrogen to Aosen Special Steel, filling the critical gap in Xinji City’s fully integrated green hydrogen “production, storage, transportation, and utilization” value chain.

In the future, Aosen Steel will continue to deepen its collaboration with strategic partners like China Huadian Group, expanding the diversified applications of hydrogen in steel production. Together, we will build a synergistic "electricity-hydrogen-steel" new energy system, continuously empowering the company’s green transformation and supporting high-quality regional economic development—ultimately contributing Aosen’s strength toward the nation’s goals of peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality.
